UAE never fails to amaze us with how beautifully it incorporates technology into its operations. One such example is the recent adoption of AI for its police force. By integrating Artificial Intelligence into its operations, Dubai Police has set a new benchmark in law enforcement, enhancing its efficiency, effectiveness, and overall public safety.

They have started working on a well-planned digital transformation roadmap and focusing on what can streamline the workflows and ease the audience as well. Let’s talk about how Dubai Police is leveraging AI and what it can translate into in terms of security and safety of the Emirates.

How Dubai Police is Leveraging AI to Boost Security & Safety

Smart Planning for Minor Traffic Accidents

Here is how it works. The system analyses the accident data using a combination of factors, such as the severity of the damage.

The goal is to generate immediate reports for drivers without needing any human intervention. The steps required to prepare a report on minor accidents have now been reduced from seven to four. This may also result in more accurate reporting since it is free of any human reporting bias.

This will save time for drivers and minimise the inconvenience of the process.

Vehicle History Records

This system will provide potential car buyers with access to the vehicle’s accident history. This includes details about any collisions, repairs, or other incidents that may have affected the vehicle’s condition.

The benefit? Buyers can make more informed decisions about purchasing a used vehicle. AI has made it easier to assess the vehicle’s reliability and potential mechanical issues, allowing buyers to negotiate a fair price. Also, it increases transparency in the used car market, reducing the risk of buyers purchasing vehicles with hidden problems.

So, let’s say you are buying a used car, you will know exactly what to expect and what you are signing up for. You are in for no surprises!

AI-Powered Virtual Officer: Amna

Meet Amna, a virtual police officer powered by AI. Amna, an AI app by Dubai Police, can interact with the public and answer queries in both Arabic and English, taking accessibility and communication to a whole new level.

Officer Amna, being the First AI Lieutenant, is available on the Dubai Police app. Users can simply ask Amna questions using voice commands, and she will provide relevant information or assistance. In 2023 alone, Amna conducted an impressive 20,000 conversations with the public, demonstrating its effectiveness in serving as a virtual point of contact.

And this app has over 7.9 million downloads, offering 70 services in 7 languages.

The Dubai Police Smart App, which is available on iOS, Android, and Huawei platforms, has been enhanced with AI features. These features aim to improve the overall user experience and make it easier for citizens to access police services.

By incorporating AI, the app can provide more personalised and efficient assistance, streamlining interactions between the public and the police force.

Blockchain for Lost Passport Certificates

Dubai Police has partnered with technology providers to implement a groundbreaking blockchain-based system for issuing lost passport certificates. The use of Blockchain ensures the integrity of the data and prevents tampering.

Since its launch in 2021, the blockchain-based system has issued over 66,000 lost passport certificates. The system has been super effective in meeting the needs of Dubai’s residents and streamlining the process of obtaining replacement documents.

This is just the beginning. With AI paving its way into administrative processes like these, one wonders about the immense potential of AI and technology that is yet to be explored.

The implementation of AI has significantly reshaped the landscape of law enforcement in the UAE. It has automated routine tasks, improved data analysis, and enhanced public interaction, allowing the police force to deliver more efficient and effective services.
